Hello Shutesbury Moose!

March certainly "came in like a lion" this week with the heavy winds in Shutesbury!  Thank you for your patience as we figured out how to address widespread power outages and remote/hybrid learning.  This year is full of learning curves and just when we think we have experienced it all, something else pops up!

This week was chilly but full of bright sunshine so the students who are hybrid were able to play outside quite a bit.  Hopefully as the warmer, spring weather returns we will be able to make even more use of our beautiful outdoor learning areas.  We are very lucky to have such expansive (and gorgeous!) grounds at our school.

Next week the PTO will be very busy with a meeting on Wednesday and distribution of the Diemand Farm meals fundraiser on Thursday.  Thanks to the PTO for staying active and supporting our students and staff through these strange times.

Look out for more info about Virtual Family Conferences coming up in March and more information regarding any decisions made about the school day and schedule by the Commissioner/Governor/Secretary of Education or Board of Education in the coming days.

Here's to a warmer and sunny week next week!

DROP OFF/PICK UP REMINDERS:  Please maintain a safe speed when entering and exiting the school parking lot.  Please stay in the line of cars unless a staff member signals you to drive around the other cars.  We have many young students exiting from cars and we want to keep drop offs/pick-ups as safe as possible.  Thanks for your attention to the safety of all!

 Preschool Update for Fall 2021

Typically at this time of the year preschool enrollment begins.

Due to COVID, we are uncertain what the Preschool Program will look like in the fall.

At this time, we are not able to commit to a full-day, 5 days/week program. Administration and teachers are meeting to discuss options that will support three and four-year olds in the community, and ensure the health and safety of children and teachers during the pandemic.

If you are interested in enrolling your child in a part-time program, please contact Grace Griecci at [email protected]

***PTO NEWS***

Greetings from the SES PTO!

During this school year, the PTO has been “zooming” along and adapting as we go. Our mission to raise funds, support programs at SES and create community and parent connections to our wonderful school continues. As of this year, the PTO is officially a registered 501c(3) non-profit organization! We are so pleased to have attained this status! Many thanks to all of you who have taken part in our small fundraisers this year! These efforts supported local farms, businesses and our school! Our current Winter Warmer Fundraiser wrapped up this week.  Please stay tuned for other local fundraisers to come.

The PTO is open to all Shutesbury Elementary Parents. On that note, we would love to see you at our meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7pm via Zoom. The link for our next meeting on Wednesday March 10 is:

The PTO is also hoping to fill vacancies on our executive board. Currently, we are looking for a Treasurer, and as our Secretary will “graduate” this year with her 6th grader, that position will open in June. Please consider taking part in this important organization! It is a wonderful way to connect with your child’s school community. Please reach out to us with any questions at [email protected] and Thanks!
