Hello Moose,
What a beautiful week of weather we’ve had! It’s nearing 60 degrees on some days and the classrooms have been spending extra time outdoors. Spring is in the air!
Today we have our first Spirit Friday of March Madness!! It’s Pajama and Stuffie Day!! Students and staff have risen to the occasion and we are so cozy in our get-ups. Thanks to the 6th grade for motivating us and for adding a little excitement and creativity to the very long month of March.
Tonight our 4th-6th graders who have read at least 5 of the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award books have been invited to the Books in Action Party at Erving Elementary School! The union librarians host this party which features activities representing many of the books. It’s so much fun for our students to meet other kids from the union, spend a night out together at another school, AND have it all based on READING! Thanks Ms. L. and the other school librarians for making this fun celebration happen!
Spring ahead 1 hour on Sunday morning for the ending of Daylight Savings Time!
Next Wednesday we are hosting the Amherst Regional Middle School administration for a meet and greet in our library at 6pm (right before the PTO meeting!). Families are invited to come and hear about the middle and high school programs and ask any questions they have. This is a great way to make a connection with the community “down the hill.” We are very appreciative that they are making the trek up here!
We are starting to plan our end of year events (already!) so you can look forward to our Arts Night featuring Seussical the Musical, the Strings Concert, Band Concert, Artist in Residence Week, Field Day and Graduation events! Coming up first is the Spaghetti Dinner and PTO Auction on Friday, May 15. Put it on the calendar now!
Cheerio,
Jackie
***MOOSE INTERVIEW OF THE WEEK***
Archie from Kindergarten!
JCB: What do you like best about school?
AJ: Recess.
JCB: What do you like to do at recess?
AJ: Play games. I’ve played many since preschool, like Ninja Cats and Moss Cats – we find a patch of moss then we protect it and we are cats that have every power to spy and every power.
JCB: Do you have any pets at home?
AJ: Yep
JCB: What kind of pet?
AJ: I have 8 pets - 2 fish, 2 snails, 2 axolotls. That’s a type of salamander or newt and they grow to be this long [shows 15” long with hands]. Pretty soon we’re going to get a dog.
JCB: What’s your favorite book?
AJ: Type of book?
JCB: Sure. Or title, whichever you prefer.
AJ: Graphic novels.
JCB: Is there one in particular that you really like?
AJ: Almost all of them I like.
JCB: What is your favorite food? If you could have anything in the world to eat when you get home from school today, what would you eat?
AJ: Kale chips
JCB: What do you want to be when you grow up?
AJ: Scientist.
JCB: What kind of scientist?
AJ: A scientist that studies animals.
