Dear Moose,
What a delightful week we have had! We practiced some school safety, got into the groove of our new school schedules and enjoyed our learning communities.
Please be on the lookout for the PTO Autumn Flowers fundraiser! You can buy some beautiful mums and asters. Orders are due by September 12th. Checks can be made out to the SES PTO.
We have some news from our cafeteria. After consulting with Chef Gail, Nurse Katie, guidelines from the Department of Education, and the thoughtful and detailed presentation from 4th grade students to the School Committee last spring, we have decided to offer chocolate milk as an option on Wednesdays and Fridays beginning the week of September 23rd. Students will be allowed to have one serving of chocolate milk if purchasing lunch or milk on those days. Students will not be allowed to have more than one serving. The milk will be kept behind the serving counter so that Chef Gail and Rob will know who is being served. Both Leverett Elementary and Swift River Elementary have similar schedules regarding serving chocolate milk. If you have major concerns around your child receiving chocolate milk, please contact Chef Gail and she will ensure that your child only takes regular milk.
Mark your calendars for our Family Open House on September 25th from 6:00-7:00! More details to come. Students and families are invited to this event.
Have a great weekend!
Jackie

***MOOSE LODGE CLUB (AFTERSCHOOL) NEWS***
We have had an amazing start to the Moose Lodge Club. Just in our first official week we have had our students run and walk a total of over ten miles. Also, we have specialized in fort building. Our Moose Lodgers used all of the foldable mats in the gymnasium to create some amazing structures that any architect would be proud of. This week's science videos were from one of my all-time favorite humans. Mark Rober is a NASA engineer who has helped to create the space rover that is on Mars. However, he is also an amazing Youtuber who shares science experiments such as how to create liquid sand or the physics behind carnival scams! Hope to see you at the Lodge, and have a wonderful and active week!
Sincerely,
Mr. Steven A. Carra

“Our kids have been part of Wolftree programs for over four years and throughout this time, I have watched them develop a strong connection to nature. In a world inundated by technology and demanding schedules, Wolftree has given our kids the time and space to learn from nature outside the classroom. This is such a unique program because it not only allows your kids to learn through play in the woods, it builds their respect for the environment.” ~ SES Parent of Wolftree Participants
