Hello Moose!

Well, what a busy week we had at SES!  Fun events started last week with the Staff Appreciation Lunch put on by Jaime Donta and the PTO!  The abundance of delicious dishes, salads and desserts was amazing!  The staff feels very appreciated and in return, we appreciate the families of the students that we're lucky enough to work with.

This week we enjoyed Tyson Peelle's string instruments students perform at school and at an evening concert.  The students did a wonderful job and we thank Mr. Peelle and Diana Peelle for their time and effort in taking these instrumental students to a new level by performing in front of their peers and families.  Well done!

We also enjoyed the portfolio presentations by the 6th graders this week.  This project reflects the strengths and challenges of each student and highlights their school work as well as their personal interests.  It makes us all very proud to see these poised, confident 6th graders presenting in such an introspective, intelligent, and often hilarious way.

Arts Night was a huge success thanks to the hard work of Ms. Berube, Beth, and all of the students!  The plethora and variety of artwork was amazing.  Our halls resembled a professional art gallery and students were very proud to show off their exhibits.  And our multi-grade concert (along with ukeleles!) was heartwarming, inspiring, and creative....just like our amazing staff!  I'm grateful to work in a community that fully supports the arts as an integral part of elementary education.

Today is Field Day and although it's not over yet, we are off to a great start!  The bounce house has been delivered, staff are at their stations, students are prepared and Mr. Carra's energy and organization is NON-STOP!  Big thanks to Mr. Carra for organizing such a busy, fun and safe outdoor Field Day.  We'll include photos in next week's Roadtown News.

Next week we look forward to Mr. Bender's Band Concert on Monday, June 3 (2:15pm and 6:00pm performances).  Please remind band students to bring in their instruments.  Next Friday the 6th grade will travel to Boston, we will celebrate the Bus Drivers with an Appreciation Breakfast and we'll hold a Moose Fun Run and BBQ in the afternoon!  Another busy week!!  Thanks for all of your understanding and support at this busy time of year!
