Dear Moose,

I have heard from many households that they have heard Annie songs and dances being performed repeatedly at home .Well MARK YOUR CALENDARS because we have scheduled our whole-school production of Annie for December 6th! Miss Samm and all SES students have been working very hard to learn songs, dances and scenes from the musical Annie. We will perform a 30-minute mini musical on December 6th. We will have a show at 2:15pm and 6:30pm. Miss Samm will be sending home a letter with some clothing and timeframe information. It is really important that all students attempt to come to this performance as every student has a part in it! More information is to come, but please mark your calendars now! It will be quite the treat!

With the chillier weather comes the chance of snow and snow related delays or closings. The Town of Shutesbury switched its emergency message provider. This year, if you have opted to receive a call regarding snow delays or cancellations it will come up on caller ID as CodeRED (this is the company we are using). Messages are usually sent by 6:30 am. Our school website is also updated to communicate a delay or closing on the front page (shutesburyschool.org).You can also tune into local TV news and radio stations. Remember, on the news and radio stations, look for ERVING SCHOOL UNION 28not Amherst. Sometimes we have a delay or closing when Amherst does not!  See the official weather cancellation info sheet attached.

On Monday, SES is closed in observance of Veterans Day. We will see everyone back to school on Tuesday, November 12!

Loving Kindness in the Kitchen, From the Seed to the Table; Sunday, November 10, 11AM-2:30PM; Amherst, MA

Happy Fall!

I have been feeling inspired by the local organic harvest, cooking and eating delicious warming dishes. Fall is a great time to get back in the kitchen and I am reaching out to you to see if you want to come to my cooking class this Sunday, and/or know of others who would love to share in the fun. Here’s the details:

Through excited curiosity, our culinary adventure begins. In this hands-on, vegetarian cooking class, gourmet organic chef, teacher, and cookbook author Leslie Cerier guides us in the playful art of mix and match with the bounty from our local organic vegetarian harvest. We choose ingredients, accommodating everyone’s dietary needs, moods and desires. Then we will cook and eat our lunch.

As we gather, prepare, cook and eat together, we create community. Loving Kindness in the Kitchen becomes a spiritual practice honoring all the hands of love that touched our food from the seed to the table…
