Dear Moose Community,

Another hot and humid week is in the books. Our students and staff were great this week in the heat. We are all very hopeful for some crisp, cool air to return to Shutesbury.

It has been a joy to watch the students enjoy the new playground at recess. The woods have also become another recess favorite. Please remember to send students to school with sneakers or shoes that are firmly attached to your child's foot. Flip flops are very dangerous when running/jumping/climbing/skipping and rolling!

We have a full week of learning and fun next week. We look forward to it! Please remember to join the community on Saturday September 15th for Celebrate Shutesbury in the town center. There will be food, activities, music and more!

Also, remember that Wednesday September 26th is Open House at SES. More information to follow!

Finally, PLEASE return your child's emergency contact form to the office ASAP. We rely on these!

We continue to enjoy our days with our fabulous students and wonderful community. Thank you for supporting us in a great start back at school!

Jackie

***COMMUNITY NEWS***

Fall is coming and before the rakes and snow shovels come out get your body moving.  Head to the Shutesbury Elementary School gym for 4 nights of Aiki Movement classes from 6-6:45pm. We meet on Monday September 10th, 17th, 24th and October 1.

These classes are for anyone who wants to improve their movement awareness and body integration.

Each session will focus on:

Stretching while incorporating Aikido Movements

This class is taught by two friends (Ria & Charles) who have been teaching and practicing Aikido for 30 + years. For this special class we are leaving the martial out and delving into the art of Aiki stretching or what we call Aiki Movement.

The focus will be on developing awareness of one’s “Ki”, whole body centering, balance, and getting our body to stretch and flex in a safe environment.

This class is especially helpful if you are interested in an extended warmup and gentle, active movement yet not really interested in a full on martial arts class.  We invite those who have a compromised movement system yet want to move more.  We assist you in moving from where you are in your current physical state.

Stretch into Fall on Monday nights from 6-6:45pm

September 10, 17, 24 and Oct 1, 2018

Location: Shutesbury Elementary School Gym

Price: $10 per class
Please private message me, Ria, or call 413-367-9787 to register or for more info.
Hope to see you at the gym as we get our bodies moving and grooving for the coming Fall and Winter.
