Winter Recess – NO SCHOOL

February 3,2017
Dear Moose,

Well, the Groundhog saw his shadow... 6 more weeks of winter!  Here's hoping that we don't have any more snow days in those 6 weeks.

This week, many students participated in various student-led activities. Lots of our older students participated in MCBA themed happenings. On Wednesday older students roller skated/bladed through a student created obstacle course! Please see some pictures from this event below. Several younger students are in a beginners gymnastics club taught by fifth grader, Annabel Culbreth-Loomis! I love seeing these great opportunities for our students and supporting our older students with leadership opportunities.

Thank you for taking our School Council's homework survey. This is a reminder that the survey is open until February 7th! If you have not taken the survey, you can access it on our website's front page:  www.shutesburyschool.org. Some articles related to our conversations around homework can also be found on the website. If you would like to be part of School Council's open forum, please join us on Tuesday, February 7th from 3:45-4:45.

Thank you to those who supported our PTO's Wings fundraiser at the SAC last Friday. Special thanks to the PTO members for organizing this event!

The weeks ahead:

- Feb. 7th - School Council public forum on homework 3:45-4:45 pm

- Feb. 17th  - Report cards

- Feb. 20-24th - February vacation

Happy February!

Jackie

AC:  My favorite thing at school is to play dogs with Rogan.

JCB:  What do you like to do when you’re at home?
AC:  I like to play blocks with my brother, Lleyton. When I go in kindergarten and he goes to preschool, I’ll go into my room and he’ll go into the room I was in in preschool.

JCB:  What is your favorite food?
AC:  Let’s see….bacon?

JCB:  What do you think you’d like to be when you grow up?
AC:  I would like to be a ninja.

JCB:  What kind of training do you need for that?
AC:  Moves.  Like flipping!

JCB:  Can you tell me a little bit about your Drama Time in Preschool?
AC:  Me and Rogan do it at the same time.  I tell my white dog [stories] and Rogan tells his brown dog [stories] and I tell William’s black dog [stories]. They do different kinds of things like watch TV and play soccer!
