The Amherst Education Foundation, Inc. is an independent, non-profit education fund, whose purpose is to stimulate excellence, promote equity, enhance diversity, and mobilize broad community support for the public schools of Amherst, Leverett, Pelham, and Shutesbury.

The Foundation has annually funded cutting edge projects in the schools, encouraging creativity and professional development in the staff, and stimulating imaginative inquiry and productivity on the part of students.

There are many, wonderful projects listed up on the Amherst Education Foundation website, just waiting for people to discover and donate. Our school has identified and submitted a project for the donations page entitled the Shutesbury Elementary School Artist in Residency Program”:

As the arts, humanities, and sciences are central to the education and lives of our students the SES Artist-in-Residence Program is designed to help our school strengthen teaching and learning in the arts, humanities, and sciences through activities that directly connect with our school improvement plan. Funds provided by private donations on this site will augment support for in-depth artist residencies to encourage a lifelong engagement with the arts by making them an integral part of each child's education.

The goal is to raise $2,000 to be matched by the PTO and other grants in order to fund an artist-in-residence for the 2007-2008 schoolyear. Any amount you can contribute will help make this happen!

Please let your family & friends & larger communities know about the safe and secure online donation choices at http://www.amhersteducationfoundation.org/Donation_Listings.  All donations are fully tax-deductible. Please help raise awareness of the new AEF website.  Together we can work to support all of our schoolchildren!
